Welcome!

It is my hope that this blog will help your search committee get to know me better as you discern God's call for the leadership of your church.  Here you will find sermons in audio and text format, pictures, my resume and my PIF number.  But first, grab a cup of coffee, and let me tell you a little about myself:

I’m a free-ranging Presbyterian part-time supply preacher, teacher, and ruling elder in Decatur, GA and my deep enjoyment is helping others discover where God is already at work in their lives and what God is calling them to do next. I do this through teaching, engaging Scripture in sermons or seminars, and inviting people actually to expect God to show up.

The hospitality of church is an ideal place for this to happen – when we pray and eat together, when we get to know whole families across generations or simply greet warmly the new person who walks in the door, when we put down the incessant rush of the world and sit together, take the time to exchange stories and to laugh hard together and sometimes to share tears, we warm to the grace that lives at the heart of God.

I have savored the process of seminary, inquiry and candidacy alongside my children’s growing years at home. Now that they are more independent, I am primed to move to the next step, ordination as a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).

You seek someone well equipped for ministry, and I think you'll find that my relevant experience in leadership (both in the church and outside of it) is deep and broad.

As an ordained elder at Decatur Presbyterian Church since 2005, I’ve explored the Bible with adults and children through teaching, and have led worship in ordinary and occasional services. I’ve helped create space for deepening faith formation and have sat with beloved church members in pastoral care. I've worked with others on long-range plans for a healthy future for the church.

As a supply pastor for the past five years, I've preached and led worship in a rich variety of congregational settings.  As Director of the Delta Air Lines Foundation, I led the redesign and rollout of new goals for making donations, and guided the grant making process.  As a member of the Atlanta Arts Fund (of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta), I worked with corporate and community leaders to insure that arts organizations across the metro area would thrive.  As a mom of school aged children, I tutored students in reading and math. I've also worked with adults as they learned to read.

Atlanta is where I grew up, and I attended Davidson College in North Carolina. My husband Mark is with the National Park Service, and we have two children: Emily, a sophomore at Emerson College in Boston, and Ben, a junior in high school in Decatur.

An irreverent book club of more than fifteen years keeps me reading widely and laughing; several Decatur coffee places keep me well supplied with the strong warm drink; and my sturdy running shoes take me all over the city on daily walks.

Now, let's get down to business.  My PIF number on the CLC site is 100026142.
